If an item rings up for the wrong price at Publix, they will give your the first item free and any like items for the correct price.

Harris Teeter Tip

If an item you are looking for is out of stock, Harris Teeter will substitute a different, more expensive item for the same price. You usually have to mention this policy to get them to do it. But they will do it!

Freebie Friday!

It's Freebie Friday! I am giving away two packages of Edible Easter Grass to one winner. See my previous post for more information on Edible Easter Grass. The giveaway will run from now until 11:59 pm (EST) on Friday, 3/6/09. I will announce the winner on Saturday, 3/7/09. (The winner will be randomly selected using random.org)

You can enter up to four times...one time for each method listed below:
1. Post a comment telling me your favorite thing about Rolly Pollies or Summerville (if you have never been to Rolly Pollies).
2. Sign up to follow my blog (if you are already following my blog, you automatically get an entry!)
3. Tell someone about this giveway (email your friends, post it on Facebook, MySpace, or Twitter, etc). Just post a comment letting me know how you are spreading the word.
4. Create a post on your blog letting others know about the giveaway and link back to my blog.

Be sure to comment here with a link to your post! If you win, you need to provide me with some way to contact you. If your profile is public with a link to your blog, that works. Otherwise, watch the blog closely on Saturday, 2/28 for me to post the winner. Anonymous posts will not be considered. Good luck!

If you're looking for your "freebie fix" check out this post. It just might make your head spin! One of the giveaways on this list is for a $15 gift card to the store of your choice. Check it out on this blog: In the Harvest.

Edible Easter Grass

I saw the coolest thing today in Cracker Barrel: Edible Easter Grass. It was $2.49 a package. You can also order it from the Oriental Trading Company if you need a larger quantity. I wish I had known about it when Lucy was smaller and trying to eat Easter Grass. Hopefully, you can use this tip to make your Easter Morning easier!

Starbucks New Pairings

Starbucks just added several new pairings or "meal deals" for $3.95. These specials are available all day long. There are two options to choose from:

Tall Brewed Coffee (12 fl oz) plus your choice of:
New Artisan Bacon Sandwich
New Artisan Ham Sandwich
Reduced-Fat Turkey Bacon Sandwich
Sausage Sandwich

Tall Caffè Latte (12 fl oz) plus your choice of:
Reduced-Fat Cinnamon Swirl Coffee Cake
Perfect Oatmeal

Grocery Tip: Bakery

At Publix, you can ask the Bakery to customize the size of bakery packages. For example, if you find a bag of 8 hamburger buns in the bakery section that you want to purchase, but you only need 4 buns. Then, just ask one of the Bakery Associates to reduce the number. They will do it in a heartbeat!

I haven’t tried this at other grocery stores, but it is worth asking. It is a great way to save money and reduce waste.

Cheapest Way to Purchase Color Wonders

ACMoore and Michael's both carry Crayola Color Wonders. These are the markers that will only color on Color Wonders special paper. Use a 50% or 40% off coupon from the newspaper or repective websites to purchase the Color Wonder Kits on the cheap!

Walgreens/CVS Deals This Week

Money Saving Mom does a great job of compiling the deals available from Walgreens and CVS. Please check out this blog for more information.

Steal Alert: Half Price Discontinued Frozen Food

The Publix on Folly Road (James Island) has a small freezer in the Frozen Foods section with discountinued items. I remember seeing a few varieties of Texas Toast and appetizer type items. The freezer was well stocked. The sign on the freezer says that all items are half price and each item is marked with its original price. It is worth stopping by, if you plan to be down that way sometime in the coming week.

Homemade Backyardigans Hopscotch

Click here for directions to make a Backyardigans Hopscotch game to play at home. I just saw a commercial for this on Noggin and it looks like a lot of fun. The game includes tokens that you throw on the board. You could use these tokens to reinforce numbers for younger children.

I have to be honest. I have never really checked out all of the activities that you can print for your children on the Nick Jr. website. I was very impressed.
